Child Protection Policy

Kensington Area Soccer Club, KASC, is committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all children and young people involved in our programs. This Child Protection Policy outlines our commitment to safeguarding children from harm and ensuring their well-being while participating in soccer activities affiliated with our club.

This policy applies to all individuals involved in KASC, including but not limited to coaches, volunteers, staff, parents/guardians, and players.

The purpose of this policy is to:

  • Safeguard children and young people participating in soccer activities organised by the club.
  • Provide guidance and procedures to prevent and respond to child abuse and neglect.
  • Promote a culture of awareness, accountability, and responsibility for child protection within the club.

Key Principles:

  • Zero Tolerance: KASC has zero tolerance for any form of child abuse, neglect, exploitation, or harm.
  • Best Interests: The best interests of the child shall always be paramount in all decisions and actions taken by the club.
  • Respect and Dignity: All children and young people shall be treated with respect, dignity, and sensitivity to their individual needs and rights.
  • Accountability: All individuals involved in the club have a responsibility to report any concerns or suspicions of child abuse or neglect promptly.

Guidelines for Appropriate Behaviour

  • All interactions between adults (coaches, staff, volunteers) and players should be conducted with professionalism, respect, and integrity.
  • Adults should refrain from using language or engaging in behaviour that is offensive, discriminatory, or inappropriate.
  • Personal social media connections with players should be avoided, and communication should be limited to official team channels or platforms approved by the club such as the RAMP app.
  • Adults will respect the privacy and confidentiality of players, refraining from discussing personal or sensitive matters inappropriately.
  • Follow the "Rule of Two" policy as outlined by the Coaching Association of Canada.

Inappropriate Conduct:

If a KASC coach, manager or staff member witnesses or becomes aware of any contravention of the above policy, it shall immediately be reported to the President of the Club. If there is a conflict with the President a report can be made to the Vice President or other member of the Executive.
